Almost Home!

Writer's picture: CreekSparrowCreekSparrow

On Monday, June 14, I walked Dad through getting onto Skype, so we could see each other. We had a good time laughing, and it was so wonderful to see a smile on his face! The next day he walked up 8 stair steps! What a miracle after being in bed so long! His therapist, who Dad really liked, did a little dance. “Do you know why I’m dancing?” he asked Dad. “It’s because I’m so happy for you!” The next day Dad got word that the insurance company thought he no longer needed to stay for rehab, and he was going home on Friday. He told me he felt like a little kid waiting for Christmas morning!

That night, I wrote about Isaiah 64:4 "Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him." We've waited (although thankfully not as long as we were prepared for) and God has acted on our behalf, bringing Dad healing and restoration. We are so grateful for His sustaining hand and for all your prayers!

The week flew by and on June 17 I wrote:

I was thinking that three weeks ago, when Dad was still at Kindred dealing with confusion and side effects from the meds, I had asked you all to pray Psalm 142:7. "Set me free from my prison, that I may praise Your name. Then the righteous will gather about me because of Your goodness to me." I feel that God answered the first half of that verse by freeing Dad from the confusion and giving him back his ability to think and to have his memories, which is an amazing praise!! And now God has brought about the second half of that verse--God's people (you!) are gathering around and praising God because of His goodness to Dad! I'm so grateful to all of you for being part of the miracle that God has worked. As Dad told me yesterday, "God's been good!"
