A Bit About My Family
Growing up, I had a small family, just my younger brother, my parents and me. Dad was a high school math teacher who worked hard and loved his students and his family. Mom was a stay-at-home mother who kept the house clean, made delicious meals, and was always there to care for her family. We didn't have a lot of money, but we were happy and often laughing.
As we grew up and got married, I moved south (now 7 hours from my parents), and my brother moved east--all the way to Europe where he, his wife, and his three sons now live. Because he lives overseas, the best way to keep in touch with him was e-mails.
Of course, because of everything being locked down, Mom wasn't allowed to visit Dad at all. She was only able to call once or twice a day to talk to the nurse and see how Dad was doing. Once she got the information, she passed it along to me and my brother (depending on the time change, because often she got news in what was the middle of the night for him). We were glad to hear that the doctors were already giving Dad medication for COVID 19 in case he had it. They were using the malaria drug that seemed to have some success.
This was the first of many notes I would send to my brother.
It's after 3 a.m. here and I woke up and am praying. I wanted to let you know that last night Mom got a call that they put Dad in ICU and are treating him with meds for COVID19 in case he has it. They tested him for it but results won't be in for 2-5 days. Mom didn't want to call you and wake everyone up or she would have called then. She wanted to wait until morning. But since it's morning for you now, and I'm awake, I wanted to let you know so you could pray...
