One More Day

Writer's picture: CreekSparrowCreekSparrow

Thursday, June 18 was my last chat with Dad at rehab. I told him briefly that when we weren’t sure whether he was going to make it, and the doctors were asking us what we wanted, we didn’t know what to do, but I felt like God was telling me, “Choose life.” Dad immediately replied, “I’m glad you did!” That was such a blessing to me because in the back of my mind, I had wondered over the past two months whether we had made the right choice. Would Dad be happy to be alive or would he be disappointed that he wasn’t in Heaven? His words were such an encouragement and confirmation that this is what God wanted--to heal Dad and bring him home to Mom!

I talked to Dad tonight, and he's doing really well. He said that when he arrived at rehab 3 weeks ago, he could hardly do anything and he didn't know how he'd ever be able to get better. Now he's gone up and down 12 stairs every day for the past 3 days! The therapists are very pleased with his progress. We know that God has brought amazing healing during the past 2 weeks as you've prayed specifically for Him to strengthen Dad!

I can't tell you what a privilege it's been to be able to write to you about Dad's progress and know that you're praying for him. I'm so grateful for all of your prayers and notes of encouragement as you walked this long, difficult road with us. This would have been infinitely harder without your love and support! I've spent my life in the Church, but through all of this, I've come to a much greater appreciation of God's Kingdom. It amazes me that God has called people around the country, and even internationally, to pray for Dad's healing. This virus may have isolated us, but it hasn't isolated God's power or His Kingdom. Through your prayers, God has worked miracles and not only spared Dad's life but He's returned him to us as Dad! I've come to love this verse in II Corinthians 1 that I shared with you earlier. "On Him we have set our hope that He will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers." Thank you for all of your prayers; and thank you for being part of our miracle!
